In the spirit of #sewnwithhart, Harts Fabric is spending the month of February making and collecting blankets and pillows to donate to our local SPCA! We put together a quick and easy blanket tutorial perfect for our four-legged friends! This blanket is super quick to sew and it a great size for fur-babies and human babies alike! Let’s get started!

You’ll need 1 1/4 yards of two different fabrics, we used a cotton print for the top and cozy flannel for the back!

With right sides together, line up your two fabrics and pin together.

Stitch all the way around the outside of the blanket using a 5/8th seam allowance. Be sure to leave about a 6″ gap on one side so that you can turn the blanket right-side out.

Clip your corners to reduce bulk, you want your edges to be nice and crisp for your critters!

Use the gap you left in your side seam to turn your blanket right-side out!

Use a point turner (or a chopstick!) to turn out your edges, you want to make it a nice point!

Last step! Using a longer stitch length, top-stitch all the way around your blanket! That’s it! So easy!

We think the sweet little animals over at the SPCA will love these blankets! If you have any blankets or pillows that you would like to donate please stop by and drop them off! We’ll be taking everything to our local SPCA at the end of the month.

Happy sewing!
